About the Pre-Seminar
The Senior Defense Official (SDO) and Defense Attaché (DATT) pre-seminar course aims to provide attendees with the knowledge to navigate the complexities of the Defense Attaché Office (DAO), the Security Cooperation Office (SCO), and the broader inter-agency environment. The curriculum includes "insights on SOF crisis operations and coordination." A key objective is to designate a principal DoD official in each U.S. Embassy to lead and supervise the work of all DAO and SAO members. The course also intends to prepare this official to be the representative for the Secretary of Defense (SECDEF) and DoD components to the Chief of Mission (COM), and to act as the DoD diplomatic representative to the host nation's military and foreign diplomatic corps.
